Help create new music with Howay The Lasses ! Join band members Annie, Bronnie, Gareth and Katie at a special (FREE) songwriting workshop at historic Bessie Surtees House on Newcastle Quayside on SUNDAY 12TH OCTOBER. Made possible by the English Heritage Community Connections fund and the National Lottery Heritage Fund we’ll research, condense, reflect, and write a song in response to engaging historical stories, and then perform it at a special Open Day at the building (Sunday 26th October). The one-day workshop on Sunday 12th October is for anyone who has always wanted to learn more about the art of songwriting, and who particularly enjoys engaging with history and creativity.

No previous musical experience is required. In terms of access please note that the three public rooms on the 1st floor of Bessie Surtees House are accessed via a flight of stairs from the ground floor. There are also uneven floors on the first floor. The workshops will be taking place on the 1st floor of the building.
